Fluke recovery from a scam
A musician friend posted this story to his facebook wall recently:
Earlier this week, I put my camera up for sale for £300 to buy a new one. Someone named “Miss Stoke” got back to me offering to pay via paypal. I then got a message from “paypal” saying they had taken the funds out of miss stokes account and that they would release the money into mine once they had a delivery tracking number off me to secure that the buyer would be receiving their camera. Stupidly I did so and of course it was a scam and I was given no money for my much loved camera. The next morning I contacted the post office to find out it was illegal for them to stop any post and that they had already tried to delivery it miss stokes address but no one was in. Luckily the police managed to hold it for me in a delivery office in essex and now I have it safely back here at home. So today, after feeling like I’d lost something very valuable to me, I decided to send “miss stokes” the following picture…..using the camera I almost lost :)
