I had a great idea early in 2010 where you could comment on specific parts of text on a site. With comments being at the bottom of the page, sub-topics become fragmented and people tend not to bother scrolling through a bunch of them. By commenting on specific sentences, topics are clear and the discussion would be concentrated.
It would seem that around the same time, this US team thought of the same thing, named it Highlighter, and got on to make it happen (rather than suggest it to 4ip and have the idea rejected). The same thing happened with the web tracking app One True Fan. Probably time I got my business plans in order.
