Live Recording Q&A this Sat w/ Ronan C Murphy

I am hosting a live recording Q&A for Ronan C Murphy, legendary prog rock producer on Saturday 18th July, and we want you to join in and take the opportunity to ask him questions.

You might already be familiar with his work, but here is his impressive client list from his site Ronan’s Recording Show:

Ronan Chris Murphy is a record producer, Music producer, studio mixer based in Los Angeles. He works around the globe and some of his credits include King Crimson (several albums), Steve Morse (Dixie Dreggs Deep Purple), Terry Bozzio (Zappa, Missing Persons), Steve Stevens (Billy Idol), Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, John Lennon, Pink Floyd)), Martin Sexton, Jamie Walters, Ulver, The California Guitar Trio, Chucho Valdes y Groupo Irakere, Joan LaBarbara (Philip Glass Ensemble, Steve Reich) Nels Cline (Wilco), Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew   as well as various projects featuring members of Tool, Ministry, Weezer Dishwalla, and Yes……

Yep, he’s in the big leagues. I am personally really looking forward to this Q&A, someone with experience like this has a lot to offer us young engineers.

I first came across Ronan on the Gearslutz forums, where I was struck by his knowledge and willingness to encourage and inform the inquisitive young engineers. If you are not familiar with the Gearslutz forums, let me tell you that this attitude is a breath of fresh air in a swamp of text.

Here is a video of his latest recording show, which is very worth subscribing to. Sorry, Tumblr is increasingly bad at embedding. Visit Ronan’s Recording Show to see these great videos.

We will be hosting the Q&A on Ustream. Check our Twitter feeds @TomDavenport and @RonanCMurphy on Saturday for an announcement of what time the session will be hosted, most likely early evening GMT.
