Some great music made with bee samples by Troels Folmann. Wired say this is the guy who did sound design for the Tomb Raider games, and films including Transformers and Avatar.
It was only two months ago I posted about insect micro-sounds, including a bee sample, saying “There’s so many tiny sounds you could pull from this kind of recording. I’d be interested to hear them down-sampled till they get real deep. There’s an innovative bass line hiding in there somewhere…”
Well guess what: Folmann did exactly that.
“I recorded the flaps in high resolution and tuned them down to the degree where I could hear the individual wing flaps,” he said. “I used those to create the bases of the rhythms.”
Now it’s time for someone to go back and pull samples from @RichardDevine’s recording of a freaky Velvet Ant. Link me if you do.
