Epic PR fail from Raw Power Management
Don’t you love it when a PR companies accidentally forward a private comment to the wrong person?
I was reporting on Bring Me The Horizon and their alleged attack on a member of the audience at a show in Finland.
In this fan video, it looks almost as if guitarist Jona Weinhofen starts punching at someone in the crowd, followed by singer Oli Sykes. The loud pops suggest he may have used his microphone as a weapon, but judge for yourself on this clip (edit: the user has since removed the video, but it seemed fairly explicit. This video starts in time to show Oli hitting at someone and being pulled from the crowd).
So I went to check with their management at Raw Power, who also look after Funeral for a Friend, Fightstar and Gallows.
Their reply?

Whoops.
I asked if there was something funny about what could be a violent assault, and they quickly replied:
We have been having some trouble with our info account with malicious break ins. I apologise if any offence was caused and we are endeavouring to get this sorted.
This happened a few times last week … Again apologies for any offence caused.
So you haven’t changed your password for a whole week? Or has Anonymous taken over your account and started replying to every one of your contacts?
Or did you forget how to forward an email properly?
Responding to my skepticism, they then said:
This is a matter we take very seriously as a company and in no way reflects how we work.
Actually, it seems to reflect exactly how you work.
I don’t mind that — we all behave differently behind closed doors, and I’ve traded more than a few jibes with PR folk under the cover of twitter DMs.
But other companies have the competence not to screw it up.
